This is Justice is Liberty, a new writing project by Jameson Higgins. If you would like to stay up to date with my writing, please subscribe and receive emails when new content is published!

The goal of this project is two-fold. First and most important is to build my writing sample. I would love to write for a living someday, and that starts with writing as a hobby. The form is flexible, the content will be inconsistent, but it will all technically be writing.

The second goal is to attempt to take accountability for my whiteness. I have been divorced from the consequences of my choices for most of my life. Raised as the heir-apparent to a middle class feif-dom, it's only recently that I have come to realize that I'm the reason the world feels so off track. My own shallow self-importance and communal disconnect are not symptoms of capitalism; they are it's propelling force.

I guess I'm trying to engage white people in a conversation about what it means to be white in America today. I want to call out the curtains we hang over the untidiness of our legacy. And I want to imagine a world where we divest from control and manipulation to rejoin our place among the peoples of earth.

This whole process is public on purpose. I'm here for critique, criticism, and conversation. Call me out if I write something stupid. Jump in the comments if it made you think. Screenshot and red-pen the whole post if my writing needs improvement. Feedback encouraged.

Welcome to my project. If you're reading this, I'm really glad you're here.
